Yemen: Saleh announced his intention to leave

On Saturday Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh said  he would resign in the coming days.

“I plan to leave power in the coming days,” said the head of state quoted by international media.

Since early February, Yemen was the scene of demonstrations calling for the resignation of the president. According to media reports, the ongoing violence in the country have been hundreds of deaths.

September 23, President Saleh, in power since 1978, has returned home after completing treatment for three months in Saudi Arabia following the injury sustained on June 3 in an attack against the palace in Sanaa.
