Violent storms in Central and Eastern Europe: one dead and five wounded in Poland

WARSAW, Poland – Severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and gusty winds have hit Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic in the night from Wednesday to Thursday. In Poland, the weather caused the collapse of a roof Kolodziaz (center), leaving one dead and five injured by the fire department.

The storms that hit Poland in the night a thousand uprooted trees, brought down many power lines and caused damage to about 200 roofs. Firefighters also reported flooded streets and many locals.

Czech Republic, several rivers and streams have reached crisis point, particularly in the Liberec region (north) near the border with Poland. Several camps were evacuated because of flooding. New storms are expected as planned until Friday.
