France strongly condemns the start of operations uranium enrichment plant in Iran Fordo, considering that they will inevitably lead to increased sanctions against Tehran, international media reported on Tuesday.
“This new challenge leaves us no choice but to strengthen international sanctions and adopt, with our European partners and all the willing, measures of scale and unprecedented severity,” said the deputy spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Romain Nadal.
On Monday the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has officially confirmed that Iran had begun to work Fordo uranium enrichment to 20%. Earlier in the day, the Western media, quoting diplomatic sources in Vienna, had reported that Iranian experts had begun to enrich uranium there is at least one week in Fordo, a site that IAEA inspectors had visited.
Several Western countries, the United States in mind, suspect Iran of seeking to develop nuclear weapons under a program conducted according to Tehran for peaceful purposes. The Security Council of the UN has adopted several resolutions sanctioning Iran for its refusal to establish a moratorium on uranium enrichment.
