Tensions between NATO soldiers and Serbs in northern Kosovo

Zvecan, Kosovo – On Friday Soldiers of the NATO mission in Kosovo have suffered the stoning of Serbs, who tried to help remove roadblocks in northern Kosovo.

Serbian officials said at least three protesters were injured during the incident, on a bridge near the town of Zvecan.

The soldiers of the NATO force in Kosovo (KFOR) had blocked the bridge with armored vehicles and barbed wire, while they withdrew Concrete roadblocks set up by the Serbs. This provoked a demonstration by an angry mob of Serbs, which met at the checkpoint and began throwing stones at KFOR soldiers. They responded by firing rubber bullets, according to witnesses .
