Tehran warned Washington not to send its aircraft carrier to the Gulf

On Tuesday Iran claimed that the U.S. will no longer reflect their aircraft carriers to the Gulf where Iran carries out naval exercises, the Iranian media have reported.

“Iran will not repeat its warning. An enemy aircraft carrier arrived in the Strait of Hormuz (major route of transmission of hydrocarbons) because of our exercises. I recommend and I insist that carrier U.S. aircraft does not return to the Gulf, “said General Ataollah Salehi, commander of the Iranian Armed Forces.

Iran “will retaliate” if the aircraft carrier, which recently passed through the area to get exercise in the Sea of Oman, returns in the Gulf. “We’re not used to repeat our warnings,” said the Iranian general.

Iranian naval forces, conducting maneuvers close to the southern coast of the country since December 24, discovered  the U.S. aircraft carrier John C. Stennis patrolling a short distance of Iranian ships last Thursday. The Iranian maneuvers take place in an area of 2,000 km ², between the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman.
