Syria: EU condemns violence against demonstrators

The European Union condemned “the continued use of force” against demonstrators in Syria, said Catherine Ashton  the High Representative for EU Foreign and Security Policy.

“The violence discredit the promises made by the Syrian regime and undermine its commitment to carry out reforms. The cruel repression is incompatible with dialogue,”.
“The opposition should play a key role in this dialogue,” said the head of European diplomacy.

Friday, 13 people died in clashes between government troops and demonstrators in Syria, reported Reuters, referring to non-governmental human rights.

Ashton called the Syrian government to “allow the arrival of emergency independent observers, foreign journalists and representatives of humanitarian agencies.”
