Plane crash in Russia, 11 people presumed dead

MOSCOW – On Tuesday a Russian cargo plane crashed in a region of eastern Russia, according to the regional prosecutor’s office. No survivors were not among the 11 people on board the Antonov An-12.

The prosecutor’s office said the crew of the aircraft was reported shortly after taking off from Magadan, one of the four engines of the aircraft was on fire. The pilots tried to return to the airport. Communications with the aircraft were interrupted shortly after.

According to a press release, the wreckage was located in a wooded area that could not reach rescuers immediately. The nine crew members and two other occupants of the aircraft have all been killed in the crash.
