His late father Kim Jong-il has been proclaimed, posthumously, Eternal President of the Committee and Secretary General of eternal Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).
This decision was announced by the President of the Presidium of Supreme People’s Assembly of North Korea Kim Yong Nam at a rally solemn Korean People’s Army, which took place in the stadium Kim Il-sung in the center of Pyongyang.
Kim Jong-un attended the ceremony and listened to the speeches of Kim Yong Nam, who has listed, for an hour and a half, the merits of his predecessors. Kim Yong Nam thanked Kim Jong-un for agreeing to devote his life to the struggle and led by his grandfather and his father. Kim Jong-un meanwhile did not make a speech.

The solemn gathering was part of a series of events dedicated to 100th anniversary of the birth of the first North Korean leader Kim Il-sung, celebrated April 15 (the so-called Day of the Sun).
