Nearly 10,000 people infected with Dengue in Pakistan

 

Pakistan is hit by an outbreak of dengue fever which is currently about 10,000 infected people, said the agency INN referring to official sources on Sunday.

According to Pakistani media, cases of dengue were registered across all the country, but the Punjab province (northeast), which is particularly struck by the plague. Just in the city of Lahore, the capital of the province, more than 8,700 are infected; the epidemic has already killed 104.

Dengue is an infectious disease transmitted by mosquitoes, of which there are four distinct forms, one of which, known as colitis is potentially fatal.

There is currently no vaccine or specific treatment against dengue.
