NATO acknowledges a burr in Tripoli

The NATO command acknowledged that an error of shot in Tripoli was able to make civilian casualties, press release from the Alliance released on Sunday night.

“It turns out that a weapon did not hit the intended target and that there may have been an error in the system that may have been a number of civilian casualties,” the statement said.

“NATO regrets the deaths of innocent civilians and takes great care in the conduct of raids against a regime determined to use force against its own citizens,” its assured General Charles Bouchard, who heads the operation in Libya.

He said the incident could be caused by a failure of a weapon system.

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, NATO raid on Tripoli killed nine people, including five members of one family, and eighteen wounded in a residential area, according to spokesperson for the Libyan government Moussa Ibrahim.
