LONDON – Rowan Atkinson, known worldwide for the television series and movies as “Mr. Bean, “was discharged from the hospital on Friday where he was admitted after being involved in a traffic accident.
Lover of beautiful cars, Rowan Atkinson driving his McLaren F1, one of the fastest cars in the world, when it hit a tree and a lamppost and his vehicle caught fire near Haddon, a village about 140 km North London, authorities said.
The “Daily Mirror” says the actor came out of the car and stopped motorists to ask them for help. Firefighters confirmed that he was not trapped in the wrecked vehicle.
The actor was seen leaving the hospital in Peterborough, Friday afternoon. He was accompanied by four security guards.
Rowan Atkinson did not comment to reporters who were there. Agents have not provided details on his injuries.
The accident occurred near the town of Haddon, a village about 140 km north of London.
Cambridgeshire Police said Atkinson had blown into a breathalyzer on the spot and no risk of prosecution.
McLaren F1 has a top speed of 370 km / h. The police however, have not suggested that speed was involved.
The vehicle has a value of about $ 1 million.
