According to the agency, information about Khamis had been forwarded to the authorities by Seif al-Islam, another son of the former Libyan leader arrested Nov. 19 in southern Libya.
The intelligence services of the National Transitional Council, in power in Libya, say Khamis is located in the city of Tarhounah, 90 km southeast of Tripoli, and hope to stop it as soon as possible, said the agency.
The new authorities have repeatedly announced the death of Khamis.
The armed uprising in Libya lasted almost nine months. Clashes between government troops and rebels have killed thousands and caused enormous losses to the economy of this oil-producing country. Muammar Gaddafi was killed on October 20 near his hometown of Sirte. Moatassem his son died the same day.
