Libya: CNT capture the 15 supporters of Gaddafi in Tripoli

On Friday Rebels of the National Transitional Council (CNT), currently in power in Libya, captured 15 supporters of ousted leader Muammar Gaddafi in the country after shootings in the capital Tripoli, said the New China News Agency referring the CNT on Saturday.

Dozens of armed men chanting slogans in support of the deposed leader of the Libyan have appeared in the district of Abu Salim in the Libyan capital that fell into the hands of insurgents Aug. 23. CNT fighters arrived in the neighborhood aboard vans shortly after.

According to Reuters, the two parties made use of heavy weapons. No information on deaths and injuries is available at the moment, but Gaddafi say that the rebels had suffered significant losses.

In six months of hostilities, the insurgents have taken control of almost all of Libya, including in the capital Tripoli (August 23). The fate of Muammar Gaddafi remains unknown. Some family members have taken refuge in Algeria.
