Paolo Gabriele was arrested at his home in the Vatican and confidential documents were found in his possession, according to the spokesman of the Holy See, Father Federico Lombardi. This layman was detained.
The day before, the Vatican announced the arrest of a suspect, without specifying its identity.
In recent months, these leaks fuel the Italian press, which published information from secret documents of the Holy See, reflecting corruption and infighting. In another case of leaks, the president of the Vatican Bank, the Institute for Religious Works (IOR), Ettore Gotti Tedeschi, accused of making out of documents, was fired by the Board of establishment on Thursday.
