Japan: magnitude 5.6 earthquake

An earthquake measuring 5.6 struck the east coast in Japan on Tuesday, reports the NHK TV station.

According to the Institute of United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was located 143 km east of Tokyo.

Location Uncertainty:  horizontal +/- 13.4 km (8.3 miles); depth +/- 4.6 km (2.9 miles).

Depth : 17.9 km (11.1 miles).

No tsunami warning was triggered at the moment.

On March 11, the earthquake of magnitude 9.0 caused a tsunami more than 10 yards that hit the coast of northeastern Japan. The assessment of the disaster now stands at more than 15,000 dead.
