Japan hit by a powerful earthquake

An earthquake measuring 7.0 struck early Sunday afternoon (local time) in eastern Japan, the tremors were felt in Tokyo, reported local media.

The earthquake occurred 486 km southeast of the Japanese capital, the home was located at a depth of 371 km. Tremors were felt in Tokyo, in the prefectures of Miyagi, Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Chiba and Kanagawa.

No tsunami warning was issued, no casualties and no damage to report.

The earthquake of March 11, 2011 triggered a tsunami of more than 10 yards which hit the coast of northeastern Japan. More than 19,000 people dead or missing. The tsunami destroyed over 151,000 buildings, bridges and roads. Fukushima nuclear power plant was severely damaged by the earthquake, and high levels of radiation were recorded.
