Israel allows the construction of 130 new homes in …

The Jerusalem Municipality approved a plan to build 130 homes in the neighborhood of Gilo, located in annexed East Jerusalem.

The Commission for the construction from the municipality of Jerusalem has also discussed the establishment of an important tourist center near the neighborhood of Silwan in East Jerusalem. According to the draft, the new center will include museums and reading rooms, and will be equipped with parking.

Previously, the Jewish state had issued tenders for housing construction in settlements in East Jerusalem and West Bank. These plans have provoked strong criticism from the Palestinian authorities, as well as some Western countries, including France, Britain, Germany and Portugal, members of the Security Council of the UN.
December 22, Israel has rejected criticism of settlement projects.

The international community condemns Israeli settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories, which it regards as a major cause of the current impasse in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
