Iran continues its nuclear program (Ahmadinejad)

Tehran will not back down on its nuclear program, said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad quoted by Reuters on Wednesday.

“Our country will not retreat one iota of its nuclear program,” promised the Iranian leader following the publication of a new report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In a speech broadcast on national television, Mr. Ahmadinejad accused the IAEA officials have “sacrificed the reputation of the Agency incorporating the disability claims of the United States.”

Previously, the Permanent Representative of Iran to the IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, had estimated that the new report on the Iranian nuclear issue was “unbalanced”, “politically motivated” and “damaging” the reputation of the Agency.

The United States and some other countries accuse Iran of wanting to develop nuclear weapons under cover of its nuclear program it claims to make for peaceful purposes. Tehran denies the accusations, saying its nuclear research for the sole purpose of the needs of the country’s electricity.
