Iran: Berlin opposes any military option

Berlin refuses to consider a military operation against Iran, said the German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle in Brussels on Monday.

“Stronger sanctions are inevitable if Iran refuses to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). However, we will not participate in the discussion of a military operation,” said Mr. Westerwelle, when his arrival at a meeting with his European counterparts.

For its part, the British Minister William Hague said the UK still considering all scenarios Regulation of the Iranian nuclear issue, including the military option.

According to the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Alain Juppe, the EU must prepare for tougher sanctions against Tehran in order to avoid “irreparable any intervention.”

Wednesday, 9 November, the IAEA has published a new report on the nuclear research carried out by Iran, saying the country had worked to create a nuclear weapon until 2003. The Agency also believes that this activity could continue at the present time.
