Iran: Americans against Israeli intervention (survey)

A majority of Americans would not support a military operation by c and is in favor of dialogue with Tehran, according to a survey conducted by World Public Opinion in cooperation with the University of Maryland, whose results were released on Tuesday.

According to the survey, 69% of respondents believe the United States and its allies must continue diplomatic pressure on Tehran to force it to abandon its nuclear program. Even among supporters of the Republican Party, 58% are in favor of dialogue.

49% say that in the case of an Israeli attack to Iran’s nuclear facilities, the United States should remain neutral, against 25% support that Washington lends military assistance to Israel. According to 14% of respondents, the United States should be limited to purely diplomatic support for a possible Israeli intervention.

The survey was conducted from 3 to 7 March 2012, with 727 U.S. citizens. The statistical error does not exceed 4.5%.
