Iran: Ahmadinejad promises important news (media)

On Saturday Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed  to announce soon the new progress in the realization by Tehran over its nuclear program, reported international media referring to Iranian television.

“These next few days, Iran will announce its further progress in the nuclear field,” said Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The United States suspect Iran of seeking to develop nuclear weapons under cover of a program, according Tehran for peaceful purposes. In late January, the Foreign Ministers of the EU approved a ban on imports of Iranian oil to the EU from 1 July. U.S. President Barack Obama signed a document establishing additional sanctions against Iranian officials and the Central Bank of Iran on 6 February.

Six international mediators (Russia, China, USA, France, Britain, Germany) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) working for Iran’s suspension of uranium enrichment work since 2003. The negotiations were suspended in 2009 after the Board of Governors of the IAEA condemned the construction of the second Iranian enrichment plant in Qom.

The upcoming talks between Iran and the IAEA will be held in late February. A group of IAEA experts led by the Assistant Chief Herman Nackaerts visited Iran from 29 to 31 January.
