In short – Ericsson buys BelAir Networks

Stockholm – The Swedish manufacturer of wireless equipment Ericsson yesterday announced it has signed an agreement to buy BelAir Networks, a Wi-Fi technology in Ottawa. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. BelAir Networks has approximately 120 employees, who will join Ericsson.

The Swedish company said the acquisition would give it a strong portfolio in Wireless, technological expertise, intellectual property rights and contracts and relationships. Ericsson said that the combination of wireless technology and Wi-Fi equipment from BelAir would help to “accelerate the integration of technology Wi-Fi and cellular.”
