Clashes between police and protesters armed with Molotov cocktails exploded in Athens on Wednesday night after protests against the new aid plan for Greece that MPs should adopt in the night.

Place Syntagma, the seat of the Greek Parliament, several dozen helmeted and masked youths threw stones and firebombs at the end of a demonstration which had gathered some 12,000 people according to police, after a day of strike of officials slowed activity in the country. Distributors banks and street furniture were damaged, broken windows and because television was burned.
