The health of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak condemned to life imprisonment by the Criminal Court of Cairo, “remains serious”, said a spokesman for the Egyptian prison service in an interview to television channel Al Nile on Sunday.
He said the former president is currently in the Tora prison hospital and the Ministry of Interior is considering transferring him to a military hospital.
Sunday morning, the wife of former president, Susan and her two stepsisters and his eldest son were allowed to visit the prisoner. Doctors hope that this visit could help stabilize the state of the former president and get him out of severe depression.
Hosni Mubarak, 84, who risked the death penalty, was sentenced Saturday, June 2 life sentences for the deaths of more than 800 protesters during the uprising in January 2011, following a trial launched on August 3.
