Every Palestinian prisoner released under the exchange with the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit will receive $ 2000 dollars, said the leader of the Islamist movement Hamas, Ismail Haniya, quoted by the press on Wednesday.
“We will try to give them a decent life,” said Minister for Affairs of Prisoners of the Gaza Strip, Atallah Abu al-Sabah.
According to the latter, the Gaza Strip has expanded home 293 Palestinian prisoners of which 163 are from the West Bank.
The Minister also said that West Bank Palestinians have settled temporarily in hotels in the enclave. In one month, an apartment, a car with driver and guards will be available to them.
In addition, any former inmate will receive a free cell phone with an unlimited plan.
According to the agreement signed October 11 between Israel and Hamas, 1027 Palestinian prisoners should be released. On Tuesday under this document, a first group of 477 prisoners, including 315 lifers were released in exchange for the release of Gilad Shalit, kidnapped on 25 June 2006 at the edge of the Gaza Strip. The second group should be released two months later.
