Hama: the U.S. interfering in the internal affairs of Syria (Damascus)

The visit of U.S. Ambassador to the Syrian city of Hama is a gross interference in the internal affairs of Syria, said Syria’s Charge d’Affaires in Russia Suleiman Abu Diyab.

“The ambassador of the United States has not received authorization to go to Hama, its movement was not coordinated with the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and can therefore be described as direct interference in the internal affairs of Syria, “the diplomat said.

He added that this “approach” business Thursday by U.S. Ambassador “was designed to torpedo the stability and order in the country.”

On Sunday, chariots of the Syrian army had completed Hama, scene of a massive demonstration against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. The police conducted mass arrests.

The charge d’affaires expressed satisfaction with Russia’s position regarding Syria, Moscow arguing for a national dialogue between the authorities and constructive opposition.

“The position of Moscow restores the balance in international relations,” said the diplomat.

Launched on March 18 in the city of Deraa in southern Syria, the riots to obtain political and economic reforms have spread to several cities. To appease popular discontent, President Bashar al-Assad has lifted the state of emergency in force since 1963, and announced economic and political reforms. Despite these measures, the popular revolt is growing.

According to defenders of human rights, repression of the popular revolt in Syria killed more than 1,350 dead. Damascus blames on “terrorist groups” supported by “external forces”.
