GB-Iran: China calls on parties to show restraint

China is worried after the attack on the British Embassy in Iran, and calls on all parties to exercise restraint and dialogue, said  during a press spokesman of China’s diplomacy Hung Lei on Thursday.

“China hopes that parties concerned will exercise calm and restraint and refrain from any action and emotion that could increase tensions,” he said.

On Thursday London decided to expel all Iranian diplomats in the United Kingdom. In addition, it has evacuated all its emergency diplomatic staff of the Islamic Republic.

These measures have been taken in protest against the failure of the Iranian authorities to ensure the safety of the British Embassy in Tehran attacked by a group of students on Tuesday. They have raided the premises of the diplomatic mission, ripped and burned the British flag before planting in its place an Iranian flag.

The decision to recall the ambassador was also taken by Germany, France and the Netherlands.
