Fleet / Gaza: Arab League denounces the “piracy” Israeli

The secretary general of the Arab League, Nabil Al-Arabi, denounced the arrest by Israeli naval forces of al-Karama Dignity, a member of the French ship flotilla bound for Gaza, reported Al Jazeera on Wednesday.

Speaking in Cairo at his first press conference as head of the Arab League, M.al-Arabi called the Israeli action as “piracy” before calling the international community and the Security Council of UN to adopt strong measures to prevent such acts in future.

The Al-Karama Dignity has been addressed in international waters after being surrounded for several hours by Israeli warships. “After exhausting all diplomatic channels and that repeated calls to the ship had been ignored, the sailors approached the Israeli Al Karama in order to prevent breaking the naval blockade of security around the Gaza Strip,” said the Israeli army in a statement.

The boat carrying 16 passengers, including eleven French, was escorted to the Israeli port of Ashdod (south) by Israeli buildings.
