Damascus accepts the extension of the mission of the Arab League

The Syrian authorities have accepted the one-month extension of the mission of observers from the Arab League, the Western media reported.

“On Tuesday the Foreign Minister Walid Moallem sent a letter to the Secretary General of the Arab League to inform him that the Syrian government had agreed to extend by one month, until February 23, 2012, the mission of observers League in the country, ” a statement from the Syrian diplomacy.

The Arab League sent its observations on 26 December, after signing an ad hoc protocol with Damascus. On January 24, the League has decided to replace the observers in the Gulf by experts from other Arab countries.
