Afghanistan: a province paralyzed by a sandstorm

KABUL, June 26
A dust storm accompanied by a hurricane paralyzed Nimroz Province in southwestern Afghanistan on Saturday, said to reporters Muhammad Akbar Sharifi  the director of the regional branch of the Ministry of Agriculture on Sunday.
He said the storm that hit the city of Zaranj, the capital of the province, buried in the sand about twenty houses, their inhabitants have however managed to escape. The storm began Saturday morning, a wind of 100 meters per second with tons of hot sand over 50 degrees Celsius has destroyed the harvest of vegetables and fruits and caused the death of large numbers of livestock.
