About 3,5 thousand people evacuated from the volcanic eruption in Chile

Authorities raised the threat level “red” to the maximum  in the area of the volcano. Immediate evacuation about 3500 people. The volcano is located in the Andes, 870 kilometers from the capital Santiago.

A major town closest to the volcano, famous with its lakes and picturesque mountain views of the resort of Bariloche, with a population of about 50,000 people, located 100 km from the volcano in Argentina. According to Argentine television, volcanic ashes strewed on the town “Blizzard Like Snow”



Local authorities closed the airport and a popular border crossing between Chile and Argentina. Authorities urge residents to keep calm, do not leave the house, do not open the windows and if possible to refrain from driving directions.

According to authorities, more than 40 years was not observed anything like that, in the last time the Puyehue Volcano erupted in 1960, after the biggest earthquake of magnitude 9.5.
