In New York the first gay marriage should be celebrated in a few weeks.Yesterday the bill legalizing gay marrieage was approved by the Senate Republican by 33 votes against 29. The origin of this law, the Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo, was greeted with applause upon his arrival in the hall after the vote. For several years, the Senate, traditionally more conservative, which was blocked while the text was automatically approved by the Assembly. Yesterday’s vote is historic. Democrat mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg called the victory “historic triumph for freedom and equality.” Explosion of joy greeted the vote in some areas of the Big Apple as Greenwich Village, west of Manhattan. New York is the sixth U.S. state to recognize marriage between same-sex couples, joining Iowa, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
