United States: declining consumer confidence

Consumer confidence down in the U.S., according to the index of  U.S. consumer confidence in February released by the University of Michigan on Friday.

According to an estimate still provisional down for the first time in six months, the index lost 2.5 points from January, to 72.5.

The index of consumer confidence had risen in January to 75.0, its highest level since February 2011, where it increased to 77.5.

The analysts thought, according to their median forecast, that the first estimate of the University would show a less marked decline in the index, to 74.0.

The University shall publish the final results of its investigation and detailed for the current month on February 24.
