U.S. willingness to use cyber attacks (Official)

The U.S. would use cyber attacks to enemy infrastructure, said the director of intelligence for the U.S. Cyber Command, the cons-Admiral Samuel Cox.

“It is possible (…) if the transaction is approved at the highest governmental level,” he said at a conference on cybersecurity held in Arlington, near Washington on Tuesday.

The United States reportred in the past that networks and computers of government institutions as well as private companies were regularly victims of cyber attacks from abroad. Russia and China were then defined as potentially hazardous.

According to the cons-Admiral Cox, Washington has a moderate position on a possible use of cyberattacks, any such attack is followed by “side effects”.

The official also assured that the U.S. infrastructure was sufficiently protected against computer attacks from outside.
