The “anti-Wall Street” supported by a majority of Americans

60% of Americans support the movement “Occupy Wall Street”, denouncing the excessive power of financial institutions, according to a survey by USA Today and Gallup.

At the same time, approximately 78% of respondents believe that the representatives of major financial institutions are fully or in large part responsible for the current economic situation. However, the number of those who think that the federal government has also made ​​mistakes amounted to 87%.

The survey was conducted last weekend with a sample of 1026 people aged 18 and over. The statistical margin of error would not exceed 3%.

The activists of the movement “Occupy Wall Street,” which denounces those responsible and the consequences of the global economic crisis, occupied for September 17 the business district of New York and promise to stay there all winter. In early October, the protest spread to other U.S. cities, including the capital Washington.
