PITTSBURGH, United States – Two people were killed and seven others were injured Thursday afternoon in a shooting incident in a psychiatric clinic of the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, announced the institution.
One of those killed was the shooter, said the spokesman for the University Medical Center, Paul Wood.
The spokesman was unable to say whether the seven injured people are patients, staff or visitors.
The surrounding buildings have been locked as a precaution.
Media spoke of a hostage and a possible second gunman, but this is false information, according to Mr. Wood.
An elite team of police was deployed at the scene. A street was closed and dozens of police raided the neighborhood.
Most university students were in spring break, but the offices and buildings of the institution were still open.
