Seven dead in a shootout in an apartment in Texas

GRAPEVINE, Texas  – The bodies of seven people shot dead, surrounded by Christmas presents unwrapped, were discovered by police in an apartment near Dallas, USA on Sunday.

The police said the bodies were those of four women and three men. Authorities told that all seven victims appeared to have died from gunshot wounds. Though they still don’t know what sparked the massacre, official say the shooter is likely among the dead.

The city of Grapevine, about 35 miles from Dallas, with 46,000 inhabitants. Best known in the neighborhood for its vineyards and its historic center, it has the reputation of a peaceful town.

Two handguns were found there, said Sgt Robert Eberling Grapevine police, saying it was the worst massacre in the history of the city.

“It’s tragic. Our services had never seen anything like it, especially here in Grapevine. This is the kind of things we read in the newspapers, we are in shock,” he acknowledged.

Police found the bodies after responding to an emergency call from the apartment, which she seems he, according to Eberling, due break down the door on arrival. No one reported hearing the gunshots.
