Protesters encouraged by Michael Moore

NEW YORK, U.S. – Protesters who  occupied a place in the south of the island of Manhattan, New York, received unexpected encouragement from the American filmmaker Michael Moore.

The event “Occupy Wall Street” is in its second week, as protesters denounced corporate greed and inequality.

On Monday night Mr. Moore went to Zuccotti Park  to express support for protesters at the end of their walk in Lower Manhattan.

On Saturday police arrested 87 people  during a march to Union Square.

The protesters criticized the response of law enforcement as too muscular, and declaring that the police had used tear gas on people who have done nothing wrong. The authorities deny the allegations.

Monday’s march took place peacefully and the police reported no arrests had been made.
