Medvedev supports the re-election of Obama in 2012

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev supported the re-election of President Barack Obama in 2012, fearing that the two men’s efforts to improve ties may lose steam under a new administration, Medvedev said in an interview with the Financial Times.

“I can tell you directly — I would like Barack Obama to be re-elected president of the United States maybe more than someone else,” said the head of the Russia.

“Our relationship [the the United States] have improved. And I think this was made possible through the efforts of the new administration and Barack Obama in person, with whom I have relations of friendship. I work with him easily, “said Russian President.

“If another person becomes US president then he may have another course,” he added.

The presidential election in the United States will be held in November 2012. Obama has officially announced his intention to run as a candidate.
