Hurricane Irene reached the East Coast of the United States

MOREHEAD CITY, North Carolina (Reuters) – On Saturday Hurricane Irene  reached the East Coast of the United States in the vicinity of Cape Lookout, said the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Irine with winds blowing at 140 km / h, Irene is a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale.The SaffirSimpson Hurricane Wind Scale is a 1 to 5 categorization based on the hurricane’s intensity at the indicated time.

The hurricane, which has already hit the Bahamas, took the north-northeast at a speed of 22 km / h, said the NHC.
