Flava Flav’s Iowa Chicken Restaurant Closed

Just four months after opening, Flava Flav‘s fried chicken restaurant has closed. The rapper/reality TV star had an argument and harsh words with his business partner, Nick Cimino. The disagreements and crumbling friendship between the two dissolved the restaurant that was opened in January. Both blame each other for the business’ downfall.

Flava Flav claims Nick Cimino has been keeping food in the restaurant past their expiration date. Cimino did not like being told what to do by Flav as far as the daily running of the chicken restaurant such as changing the grease in the fryer every hour. The Health Department for Clinton County also had a say about the fryer grease. In an inspection report, they informed an employee that the filter and the grease needs to be changed a lot more often due to the smell. The inspector also discussed ventilation issues and smoking violations on the premises.

Aside from the restaurant’s health and safety issues, there have been complaints about employees not getting paid and paychecks bouncing. Now that the business is closed, those that are missing paychecks will not receive anything. Cimino claims everyone has been paid and his credibility remains intact.

With restaurant experience and a culinary degree in tow, Flav planned on creating a chain of his fried chicken restaurants with Iowa’s being the first. The “Flav’s Fried Chicken” chain was sprouted from Mama Cimino’s 99 cent wings served in Las Vegas. He teamed up with the owner’s brother to create the now defunct friend chicken establishment.
