Chinese hackers broke into hundreds of Gmail accounts

On  1 June hundreds of mail service Gmail accounts were hacked by hackers from China. In a statement Google said that the purpose of hacking attacks were the accounts of senior U.S. officials, journalists, Chinese political activists, as well as members of governments of several countries in Asia, primarily South Korea.

Attackers to steal email account passwords used so-called phishing (stealing information by creating fake websites).

Cyber  attack was carried out from the Chinese city of Jinan. However, Google does not specify how long it could continue. All owners of the hacked accounts are already informed about the incident.

U.S., meanwhile said that it is highly unlikely to get into mailboxes of the American government.
