Barack Obama turns 50 Thursday

WASHINGTON – For his 50th anniversary celebration Thursday, Barack Obama would … that Congress approve the compromise reached with the Republican opposition on raising the federal debt limit to avoid a failure to pay the United States after Tuesday midnight.

“What I really want right now is get an agreement on the debt cap for my birthday,” joked recently the head of the White House broadcast on National Public Radio (NPR).

On Wednesday Barack Obama is expected in Chicago, he has represented in the Senate for two fundraisers, including a festival with the participation of particular jazz musician Herbie Hancock, a native of the city. He should be back in Washington on Thursday but the White House has not announced plans for the family birthday.

“I won a few gray hairs since I have this position but otherwise I feel great,” said the U.S. president, adding that his wife Michelle was always the “cute”. “And I guess that’s all that matters, is not it?”

As his graying temples, his daughters “Malia and Sasha say it gives me an air of distinction,” he said. However, “Michelle said it’s me getting older” and is concerned about “his face marked by worry.”

Obama was born in 1961 near the end of the baby boom years of 1946-1964 that followed World War II.
He must place a new medical examination soon but at the last, in early 2010, doctors said Obama in excellent shape. His cholesterol is close, however, excess, suggesting that it could eat healthier. According to his wife he also quit smoking.

Barack Obama is the third American president of the baby-boom generation, after Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. More than 4.5 million other Americans will cross the 50 years this year, according to the AARP for retirement, citing figures from the federal census. The President has already announced his candidacy to succeed himself in the election of November 2012.
