LAS VEGAS–Alyssa Campanella 21 year old girl won the Miss USA crown on Sunday night in Las Vegas (Nevada) the national competition for Miss USA. She will represent the country in September at the Miss Universe.
The winner, a native of Los Angeles, won her title against 51 candidates, after marching in blue bikini with white dots, and turquoise evening gown. She had to answer a question from a member of the jury concerning the legalization of cannabis. “I’m not sure if it should be legalized, if it would really affect, with the drug war,” she said.
Alyssa Campanella, who is a natural blonde, said that she dyed her hair about six years ago, to play a part in a play. The gorgeous contestant said that she played the role of a “fiery” character and later she found that she had traits common with the character she played. Miss USA said, “It’s really brought out the true Alyssa Campanella, I feel, and that’s why I really enjoy being a redhead”.
Campanella said during a news conference after the pageant that the win validated her decision to quickly move to Los Angeles from New Jersey after losing an apartment more than a year ago.
Originally from Manalapan, N.J., Campanella began modeling at age 16, graduated from high school a year early and received a scholarship to the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, according to her personal website.
Ashley Durham, was crowned Miss Tennessee first runner-up Miss USA and Miss Alabama and Miss Texas have been designated respectively second and third runners.
