Storage – Symantec have agreed to sell Veritas in Carlyle

Symantec has decided to meet its shareholders and investors by splitting its operations. In this context, the publisher must separate its security and information management activities.

But Symantec should go further by also yielding some of these assets. In July, Bloomberg and Reuters evoked and the sale of Veritas which precisely gathers information management activities.

And according to Reuters, the sale is now endorsed and should be formalized today during the presentation of the latest quarterly results from Symantec. The publisher has concluded an agreement with an investment fund Carlyle Group LP.

The transaction is expected Veritas value between 7 and 8 billion. For Symantec, the sale would therefore result in a capital loss since Veritas was acquired in December 2004 for $ 13.5 billion.
