Smartwatch: Samsung launches the offensive Gear S2

Samsung does not intend to let Apple buy up the implementation of the market for connected watches. A pioneer in the field, the Korean group rises to the front with the S2 Gear that will make its debut at the IFA which opens its doors in Berlin.

Featuring a round dial 1.2 inch Super AMOLED (360×360) this smartwatch is animated by Tizen, unlike many models who have opted for android wear. It features a dual-core processor clocked at 1 GHz 512 MB RAM supported.

neat Autonomy

Beyond design Classical (close to watchmaking standards), connected this watch is distinguished by its ability to work without being attached to a smartphone, it incorporates an slot for a SIM card. Autonomy, the weak point of these devices has also been treated as Samsung promises 2-3 days of operation without recharging. The latter can be done via a dock by induction.

services side, it embeds the essential functions fitness, health and wellness and an NFC module for contactless payment. Two models will be offered at prices that have not yet been disclosed.

Once industry leader, the South Korean giant has lost ground in the sector (watches and bracelets connected). According to IDC, its market share would be 3.3% against 14.3% a year earlier, placing it in fifth position behind Fitbit, Apple, Garmin and Xiaomi.
