Sharp and Foxconn: iPhone screens

Foxconn and Sharp signed an agreement in which the first is willing to share knowledge for the second manufactures the iPhone screens in its factories.

Reuters reports that Foxconn will build a new plant in China and it will produce iPhone touchscreens based on technologies provided by Sharp.
. Sharp and Foxconn unite for the manufacture of iPhone screen.

Last year, Apple has made Sharp one of its partners for the manufacture of screen (see “Apple would focus Sharp”). The company has promising technologies, like its IGZO slabs (see “IGZO: monitors consume 90% less energy”).

Foxconn has come to the rescue by acquiring 46.5% stake in the Sharp factory in Sakai, representing 9.9% of its capital. The Taiwanese will be able to use the Japanese production lines.  Foxconn saves time and money by having a stock of slabs a few hours of the Shenzhen factory which manufactures the iPhone and Sharp touches a fee which will inflate its revenues.
