In a global tablet market that is slowing, Samsung pulls out of the game. While the iPad’s market share of Apple rose from 32% to 26% in one year (1st quarter) that Samsung has suffered less (- 3 points to 19%). Better, the South Korean rose sharply between Q4 2014 and the first three months of the year, while Apple saw its share erode.
This is the time to drive the nail the side of Samsung. While a new iPad Pro is still pending, the giant pulls its new high-end models baptized Galaxy Tab S2. The machines of the South Korean display a new design with metal frame, a lightweight (265 or 389 grams) and take on board octo-core chips clocked) Exynos 5433 to 1.9 Ghz.
Two screen sizes (Super AMOLED) are proposed: 8 and 9.7 inches in 4: 3 with a resolution of 2048×1536, as on iPad 2. Air tablets also feature 3GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of memory
internal, expandable through a microSD card, a sensor
fingerprint, a battery of 4000 mAh or 5870, all under Android 5.0 supported by a new TouchWizz.
Apple and Sony are clearly targeted. But with equal capabilities, Samsung is offering a lighter product than the iPad Air, for example accusing the balance 331 and 437 grams.
Remains the question of prices that have not been disclosed but the South Korean giant is known for its competitive prices. These new Tab S2 will be launched in August
