Intel abandons its Atom processors for mobile

The maneuvers Strategic Intel seem to enact a major repositioning on the segment
mobile terminals. The founder decided to give up
its Atom chips Sofia and their alternates from the platform
Broxton. This sounds like a withdrawal from the market of smartphones and tablets
on which Intel finally never managed to win against the armada of
ARM processors. At the door also Cherry Trail Atom chips X5 that
will be replaced by the Celeron and Pentium processors that Apollo Lake
rather target the hybrid PC.

The resources allocated to platforms Sofia
and Broxton will be reallocated to the development of 5G chips and modems. Intel
account also focus on several other sectors
Holders : the Internet of Things, chips for servers, cloud
computing and programmable logic circuits. (Eureka Press)
