Apple wants to keep the exclusivity of the term ‘AppStore’

In an article published on Monday, July 11, the Wall Street Journal  reported that  Apple has sent a letter of formal notice to the portal GetJar, which proposes application portal for various mobile devices. The Cupertino company again criticized the use of the term appstore, to refer to the software store. According to the U.S. daily, Apple’s lawyers suggest GetJar to use terms like ‘download service for mobile’ or ‘download service applications’.

Last week, the U.S. court denied Apple’s request to prohibit Amazon quickly to use the term appstore. In March, the retail giant launched its online store applications for devices running the Android system designed by Google, called Amazon Appstore for Android ‘.

Considering that the term is a term appstore protected by copyright, Apple immediately denied the use Amazon, and asked a California court to prohibit the use of a name substantially identical to its own store applications.
